Next Generation Innovation 33

Product Roadmap

Since the introduction of Latency Busters® Messaging (LBM) in 2004, 29West has been the performance leader in the delivery of streaming market data and other low latency, high performance messaging solutions. In discussions with many of our customers it became clear that in addition to our LBM solution for streaming applications, there was a need for new messaging that would combine the performance and low latency of a streaming messaging offering with persistence and delivery confirmation. This need was strongest in the larger firms who wanted a new messaging model to replace legacy messaging solutions enterprise-wide.

Towards the end of 2005, the team at 29West started to work on the design concepts for such an enterprise solution, which was called Ultra Messaging® for the Enterprise (UME). Release 1.0 of UME was provided to early access customers in Q4 of 2006 and went GA in January of 2007.

UME shares the well established and successful LBM API and offers "C", .NET and Java programming interfaces. While providing the same breakthrough performance for streaming data as the industry leading LBM messaging software, UME provides additional support for persistence, a persistent store, delivery confirmation, durable subscriptions, late join support, and a range of failover options.

29West is committed to providing for the needs of the application developer and with UME and LBM offers the developer a choice of a lightweight, high performance streaming messaging product, or a high performance, low latency messaging product for persistence, streaming and delivery confirmation. We are focused solely on the needs of application developers and will continue to grow our solution set based on the feedback and needs of our customers. The table below highlights some of the key features and targeted markets for LBM and UME as well as our longer term plans for UMDS.
