In a complicated system of multiple networks and LANs, it is best to use direct communication where permissible. However, should company policy force the use of a gateway, or should a source and network be unable to adequately filter for narrow interest or slow receivers, utilize the gateway product of 29West built into our LBM and UME messaging platforms. Many messaging products need a gateway due to their LAN-only design limitations, but LBM and UME do not.
